Only Eagle Shield Meets New Fire Tests

A few years ago the American Society for Testing and Materials ruled that, since Reflective Insulation (radiant barrier) are self-supported when installed, they should not be supported by other materials when tested for flame and smoke. As a result of this ruling, all double-sided radiant barrier products made with traditional aluminum foil FAILED the fire test.

These ASTM fire tests are adopted by international codes like IRC, IBC, IECC and others, which are then mandated by every major code body in the United States. Whether residential, commercial or industrial buildings, they all require ASTM testing and certifications.

After two years of research and development, Eagle Shield has reconfigured its High-Performance Reflective Insulation to pass the stringent new ASTM E 84 and ASTM E 2599 fire tests. By replacing basic aluminum foil with a highly reflective metalized film, we achieve, not only a passing grade, but a perfect flame spread of ZERO.

If you are buying a radiant barrier product that does not meet the new ASTM E84 and ASTM E2599 fire standards, you are gambling with your home and family.  Beware of all of the traditional double-sided aluminum foil radiant barriers. If you are not buying from Eagle Shield, demand to see both ASTM E84 and ASTM E2599 testing and certifications.
